Skomor and Windy City Celtic Families 8/2/2020
As I am sure that you already heard, Governor Pritzker has mandated new restrictions and guidelines for Fall sports in Illinois. Under the new ordinance, soccer will be allowed to be played within your own club, team, or family. Unfortunately, we will NOT be allowed to compete in league play, tournaments, or against other teams. The YSSL and IYSA have not officially spoken about what exactly this means for our teams and the specificities of the restrictions that will apply to the Fall season. As soon as we hear from the leagues, we will update everyone and review the new details for our club.
The good news is that Skomor SC is joining the Illinois Premier Alliance again. A few years ago, Skomor joined forces with 7 other clubs to collaborate with one another during the soccer season. There are many perks to being under the IP Alliance umbrella, and the main advantage to this is that we are all "one club." This means that we still might be able to scrimmage one another as long as the league and the IYSA allows us to. Once we get more guidance from the soccer governing bodies, we will notify everyone with our plan for the Fall and Winter seasons.
The new discounted prices were structured around the time loss last Spring, but we did not anticipate a Fall season with the modifications of practicing, but NO PLAYING GAMES. If this is the case, Skomor SC will again review the enrollment fees for the Fall season and modify it if we are not able to compete in league play. The YSSL is still mandating that we enroll our teams, and pay the down payment fees so that our players can be properly insured. We are hoping that we could compete within the IP Alliance, scrimmage the other 7 teams, and have our own IP "Fall League."
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time-
Nick Rojas , Director of Skomor SC
